240 Thousand Free from Three

OK, now this is hilarious. Stick with me on this one, it's worth it.

I have one of the 3 Skype Phones, which is basically a cellphone that has the Skype service installed on it. The result being you can use the 3 mobile broadband network to make free Skype phone calls. The handset is a regular prepaid cellphone service also, but I don't use it for that.

Anyway, the point of the matter is this. I just recharged the service to have some credit for the next two months, which is all I need to be able to make free Skype calls. :)

I logged into the 3 webpage using the handset to check the account balance, and noticed that it said I had 240 THOUSAND, yes that is 240,000 free SMS's remaining!!!

Now, I know I am supposed to get 240 free SMS's for the recharge period. I figured the webpage was just displaying the value wrong. So I sent an SMS and checked again... 239,999 remaining. OMG!!! One more SMS just to be sure... 239,998. WOO HOOOOO!!!

Now, do the math. 3 charges 25 cents per SMS. 240 thousand SMS's are therefore valued at $60K. That's right, SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS. (insert Dr Evil laugh here).

Another Week

Well, today started off not quite as bad as I expected it to be. Still far busier than I am comfortable with. But hey, that's what I get paid the big bucks for right?

Spent the weekend hanging with family. Went to my sisters for dinner last night. Had a chat to her partner about motorbikes. He won't sell me his Honda XR400-R road/trail bike. :( He just bought a brand new road bike, stupidly powerful, will kill himself for sure. Maybe then I can get his bike. ;)

He suggested I call around to some Team Moto Honda dealerships, see if anyone has the same bike for a decent price. Might be a good idea.

Anyhow, must go and get some work done. As usual there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. :|

What a Busy Week

This week has been a nightmare. A million things to do, and not enough time to do it. And now the week is over, and I did not get even half the things done I needed to get done. :(

Next week is going to be worse. What a great start to the year! :|

Went to the dentist again yesterday. The pain has almost gone now. Got a whole lot of dental work ahead of me to get all the things done I want done. So the dentist and I will become great buddies, he will get richer, and I will get poorer. :(

Anyhow, still a few hours left in the day. I must make use of them while I can. Sorry to all those I have neglected. Probably wont get any better anytime soon though. So hang in there. ;)

They Lied

The dentist said the pain would be mostly gone within a day or two. He lied! My family and friends said the pain would be mostly gone within a day or two. They lied!

LIARS!!!

Spent most of this weekend sleeping because of the drugs I am taking to keep the pain away. I am not looking forward to working tomorrow. I don't know why it is still hurting so much. It does not look infected, but there is still quite a bit of swelling there.

It hurts just as much as it did the day after. I think everyone has underestimated exactly how much this dentist monstered me when he cut this tooth out. :(

When I see him late next week, I'm going to ask for an explanation as to why the pain has gone on. If he does not sufficiently reassure me that the next wisdom tooth extraction will go better, I suspect it will stay in until it becomes more painful to keep it in than take it out.

Have work to do tonight that I did not get finished earlier in the week. Always so much work. (sigh)

I Hate Dentists

I went to the dentist on Wednesday to have a lower wisdom tooth removed that had developed a cavity below a filling from years ago. The cavity had weakened the tooth, and the corner had broken away and exposed nerve.

I am sure the dentist did all he could to minimise the pain, but the whole experience was very traumatic for me. He had to cleave the tooth apart because it was in too tight and he could not get good enough grip to remove it. And to make matters worse, there was an advanced infection there which required him to drill and flush out the root canals before he could try to remove the tooth.

Oh man, did that destroy me! I am no more a coward to pain than the next guy, and have a pretty high pain threshold, but that has got to be a traumatic experience for anyone!

I am still in quite a bit of pain two days later. The swelling has gone down a little, but I am still medicating myself pretty heavily, and still can only sleep sitting up.

I hope the pain goes away soon. I have heaps of work I need to get done.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the dentist said the other lower wisdom tooth needs to come out sooner rather than later! :(

Not Looking Forward To It

Another sleepless night last night. So with these hardcore painkillers combined with lack of sleep and insane pain, it's no supprise this is shaping up to be a totally crappy day.

To top it off, I am going to the dentist later today to have this bloody tooth pulled. I suspect it is going to go badly, and the dentist is going to monster me. :(

Serious Pain

I can hardly belive how much pain a tooth ache can cause. I am unable to sleep because it is so bad, even though I have taken enough pain killers to make me feel like a dizzy sick zombie!

The pain is so serious that it feels like I have an agonising ear ache also. If I make it through this night I must find a way to see a dentist tomorrow.

Back in the Saddle

Back at work today. Started back a week early to try and get a head start on all the work. Holy crap is there heaps of work to do! :(

Went and saw my sister and her kids yesterday for lunch. Played chess with my nephew. Over to a mates place for the afternoon and dinner. Fun to torment his kids. His little boy is a wiz on the XBox. Puts me to shame.

Anyhow, must run. A million things to get done, and no time to do it. Enjoy your holidays people!

Sneaky Bugger

Had a migraine sneak up on me today. Oh man, it was a whopper. I was out at the shops with my mother, felt the headache coming on at lunch and figured it was just a touch of dehydration. I was wrong.

Came home, drugged myself up, slept for the whole afternoon. I still have a headache, but at least the agony of the migraine is gone.

Only had three last year. Lets hope they are not a problem for me this year. I'll need to go to the doc and get a new script for meds I use to treat it. I never want to suffer that pain if I can avoid it.

My parents came home today. No idea where they are going next, but they said they want to take the doggie with them. He monstered them good when they got home. I suspect they had a good time when they were away, but missed him. They are worse than he is. (chuckle)

Anyhow, I am about to eat dinner and go back to sleep. Am going over to my sisters tomorrow to help her put RAM in her laptop and have lunch at their friends house. Of course I have to earn my food by helping their friends with their computer. ;)

The Party Will Finish Early

Had a meeting with my boss today. Things are going to be far busier than I expected, and our upper management are going to start back a week early. That means I will be returning to work next week so that I can get a head start on things that need to get done.

Took my nan shopping this morning, meeting over lunch, then relaxed for the afternoon watching TV and playing XBox. My doggie is getting real annoyed that he is not being taken for his daily walks. The rain is just not letting up. He is a strange dog... He refuses walk out onto the wet grass to go to the toilet but is happy to go for a walk in the rain. Go figure.

Anyhow, must make a start on this work. Will have to work at getting my sleep pattern back to normal over the weekend. Blog again soon.

Same Shit Different Year

Well, no surprise there really. Bloody Microsoft have messed up bad with the over subscription problem of their XBoxLive service. It's almost impossible to play, even if you persist enough to eventually log in without errors. When you are in the middle of a game it'll drop out with a connection failure. Makes me play angry!!!

Showed my sister how to do video calls with Skype. Her kids thought it was hilarious. Will set up a webcam for my mother so that she can chat with my sister and her kids via video call. :)

Dog is annoying the shit out of me. Wants to go out for a walk but the rain just wont let up. Damn rain!

Nothing on Foxtel, and I have caught up on all the stuff I had recorded on the IQ box. And as usual, crap all on PayPerView.

Some interesting things out in the cinema, but too lazy to find someone to go with. And that makes me far too lazy to go by myself. Have a meeting with my boss tomorrow to get the ball rolling for the new year. That will get me out of the house for a while at least.

My mother called again this morning to ask about the weather. She is on holidays with my dad up at Tin Can Bay. The rain and wind is pretty bad up there. I doubt they are enjoying themselves now and will likely head home soon. Then they can take care of the dog and I can get a head start on my work.

Happy New Year

Well, that's another year gone...

Let's summarise it. Worked my ass off, made some changes for the better regarding my finances, spent more time with my family, lost a shitload of weight, messed up a fantastic friendship.

At least it was not ALL bad. :|

What does 2008 have in store for me? Going to work my ass off even more, improve my financial position a little more, spend more time with my family, lose more weight (almost there - another 10kg to go).

Going to be a HUGE year for the company. This year will see me work harder than I have in my whole life. Being single has its benefits that way, no one to be upset that I am working so hard.

I imagine my personal life will not change much. My long term future on that front looks pretty static. I doubt I will meet someone I can trust enough to start a serious relationship with, so I am pretty sure I'll remain single this year.

I do miss the close company of loved ones. Hopefully work will take my mind off that.

Anyhow, I'll blog more this year. Seeing as I will be working so hard, there will likely be very little "entertaining" content. But I'll get the personal stuff in there for those who do read my blog because I am too lazy to call you and tell you how I am. :P

My love to those who deserve it. I hope 2008 will be a good year for you.
