A close friend manages a number of healthy type juice drink outlets in the city. He has me hooked on these strawberry smoothies. I go in almost every morning and buy one.
This morning was a very bad morning. :(
I parked in my usual loading zone across from the store. I walk in and I order my usual large strawberry smoothie no ice blend twice, just like my mate taught me. The pretty young girl that took my order with a smile left me full of confidence, and I wait to the side of the empty store for my drink.
After she blends it the first time, it is apparent it has the consistency of water. I point out to her that it is not thick enough, and her body language instantly shifts to an unpleasant mode with her short response of "It has what you asked for!".
I comment that she will see what I am talking about when she tries to poor it, stepping back and letting her blend it a second time.
When it is done, she gets a cup and is about to pour it. I stop her, point to the mix with a consistency of water, and suggest that it requires more frozen yogurt. She replies with contempt "You did not ask for extra frozen yogurt!". I point out that it is like water, and she sneers at me "Well you asked for no ice, so this is what you get!".
OK, now I am very unimpressed. I pull out the trump card. I drop my mates name (her boss) when I point out that I come in every other day, order the same thing just like my mate told me to order, and I always get a nice thick strawberry smoothie. Unbelievably, she STILL responds with attitude saying "Well this is what you get with no ice!". I stare at her dumbfounded, and ask "I know this is not how you are trained to make this drink!", to which she tartly responds that she made it exactly how it is supposed to be made.
Sensing there was no way to resolve the conflict, and noticing that new customers have come to the store, I suggest I call my mate and seek guidance from him. She challenges "Fine, call him!". I step outside the store with my call, and get his voicemail. He is still sleeping, damn!!!
Noticing the other staff member in the store has stepped up to the counter in place of the girl, I go back in and he asks "What is the problem here?". I point to the watery drink and say "The smoothie is too runny!" to which he instantly replies with the same poor body language and bad attitude of his partner "You asked for no ice mate, this is how you get it with no ice!".
Pissed now, I advise him I am not his mate so don't call me one, and I point out yet again that I come in and get this drink all the time and this is now how it is supposed to be. Unbelievably, he suggests that I ask for extra frozen yogurt if I want extra frozen yogurt. I ask him how he can believe that this drink can pass as a smoothie, and he just goes in circles and insists that this is what I get if I ask for no ice!
Utterly dumbfounded at the poor customer service, I turn and notice new customers in the store. Glancing out to my car I see a police officer loitering beside it with a book in hand. I turn to the boy and exclaim "Forget it, I'll take it up with my mate!" and walk out, getting to my car just as it looks that the police officer is about to ticket me for being in the loading zone too long.
You know, I am dumbfounded that people can be so stupid. Sure they are young, but I KNOW they receive excellent training, my mate gives them the training! How an they have such disregard for their work, and contempt for the very customers they are supposed to be giving good service to!
And now I am REALLY thirsty!!! :(
