My housemate brained his damage.

Now, be warned. This is a pretty gruesome entry with some gruesome pictures. But it is pretty bloody funny entry, and well worth the read if you can stomach the bad parts.

Ok, here is the background of the story. Today, about 2pm, my housemate brained himself when he was ducking underneath the trailer of his semi. Whacked his head hard on the metal bar of a tie-down winch.

After he was done whimpering, and done cursing, he got the arm sling from his medical kit, bunched it up under his hat, and continued on with the rest of his days work. He felt pretty bad, showed signs of concussion and shock, but worked on like a trooper.

When I got home tonight, he just finished having a shower to try and clean up the blood matted in his hair. Our neighbors and I took a look at his wound under the torch light, and proclaimed that it DEFINITELY required stitches. So, I bundle him into the car and take him off to the local medical centre.

What follows is a nice little photo journal of the events. Remember, some are pretty gross, so consider yourself warned. Click on any of the pics for a larger image.

A close examination by torch light. Yeah, it's split good. You need stitches man.

At the doctors, filling out the paper work. Fun fun.

In the treatment room, laying on a bed, ready to be fixed up.

Nurse has cleaned up the wound, preparing it for the doctor. Lots of blood.

Here is the trolley with the suture kit and lots of other pain causing stuff. :P

Doc putting in the local. Man, he slips that needle in a good way under the scalp.

Holy crap, look how far he can push that finger in. Gross!!!

Doc opened it up good while he was cleaning away the damaged stuff. (I felt pretty sick and faint watching this, doc made me sit down. :P )

Putting in the first of the 6 stitches that he will need.

All stitched and cleaned. See you in a week to get them out. :)

Oh man, some of that was pretty bloody gross. The doctors and staff were quite amused that I was taking pictures of the procedure. They said they had never had their work published to a blog before. :D

Housemate says he will wear his hardhat from now on. :P
