Annoying little game.

This reminds me of that oil pipe game where you had to make a big long pipeline.

This game is a cross between that and tetris. The best I could do is 162 points after about 10 games. Got sick of it after that. Good for 15 minutes of entertainment I suppose. It is a flash game. Click on pic below to play the game.

A very productive week.

Oh man, have I had a busy week. Nice and productive though. Was going to be going to Sydney tomorrow to do some work, but don't have to go till after the new year now, so that makes me nice and happy. I have far too much work to finish up here this week, so it's all good. :)

Finished up a small project at a clients today. They have an assembly line here in Brisbane where they assemble the Tiger attack helicopters the Australian army is buying.

I snapped a quick pic of some of them being assembled, and also got a pic of their first assembled Tiger taking it's first test flight. The two that were given to the army late last week were actually assembled overseas, so this is the first Australian one. :) I was not able to go out onto the airport tarmac, so this is a pic taken from inside the building watching the chopper hover during its first flight. :)

Poor hot doggie.

Little Junior finds the summers hot, so he often spends time chasing the bubbles his feet make in his little wading pool. Very cute. :)

Gmail and SPF.

Google's Gmail is a wonderful thing. I use it for my day to day email, and I believe that it is the best web based email service anyone could ever have.

I was purging some SPAM when I noticed a PayPal email in there. Upon opening it, I saw this warning at the top of the email, obviously inserted by Gmail themselves.

A quick look into the SMTP headers of the email showed me this line.
Received-SPF: softfail (gmail.com: domain of transitioning service@paypal.com does not designate 202.83.72.196 as permitted sender)

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) makes it easy for a domain, whether it's an ISP, a business, a school or a vanity domain, to say, "I only send mail from these machines. If any other machine claims that I'm sending mail from there, they're lying."

So, in this case, Gmail has used it in two ways. The first way to identify that the email is most likely SPAM, so putting it into my SPAM folder. The second way is to reference an internal database of known domains that are the targets of phishing scammers, such as PayPal in this case, and popping that nice warning at the top of the email to protect me from unwittingly becoming a victim.

Google, GREAT WORK!!! You are a credit to the Internet. :)

Cute and stuff.

Went over a mates place for pizza last night. Had a good time. His cute little number 2 (his second child, not his poo) was awake and smiling for a while when I got there. Here is a cute pic of him. :D

Went go-kart racing this afternoon with work for our christmas party type thing. Had lots of fun. Got blisters on my hands trying to steer those bloody things around the fast corners. Hard work. :)

Hot. DAMN HOT!

Holy crap it was hot today. 37C today. Damn hot! I had to work outside all afternoon too. Had to go out to a remote hilltop that has a mobile communications tower on it that relays wireless network connectivity between our clients mine sites.

Not a bad view. Elevation is 286m. Weather was clear and I could see right the way to the horizon. Click for larger pic.


Going to bed now. Very very tired. Only got 3 hours of sleep last night and I am exhausted. I have a long day booked tomorrow, so I need the rest.

Population control?

Holy crap! I am sitting here doing some documentation for work, and at the same time, half watching a documentary on the History channel.

It quoted the fact that "Over 400 thousand people in Asia die every year in motorcycle accidents!" They just don't believe in wearing helmets.

How bloody bizarre that their culture permits this kind of avoidable mass death.

Humans really are stupid creatures sometimes. :(

Time for a few pics.

I have been so very busy, but I have taken moments to snap pics while I am working. Here are some of various things. Click on a pic for a larger image.

On Wednesday morning when I flew out of Brisbane the weather was TERRIBLE. The plane I had to fly on was not docked at an air bridge gate, so we had to run across the tarmac in the pouring rain. I took this pic from inside the plane.


To keep myself entertained in the short flight to Rockhampton, I had my GPS turned on to see the numbers. We were cruising at just over 10KM high, and our ground speed was a little over 800Km/hr. Nice and fast and high. Fast little Boeing 717-200.


I took this yesterday when I was at Byfield, which is on the coast up near Rockhampton. I thought it looked quite pretty with the cloud over the mountain just after a rainstorm. The crappy camera phone pic does the scene no justice, but I am sure you get the idea.


Just today I had to do a wireless site survey for a private hospital. Because we were going into the operating theatres, I had to put on surgical gowns and footwear and stuff. I look quite amusing. :P


Anyhow, still lots of work to do, so I better go now. I'll try to make another entry soon. My love to those who deserve it.

Too Early!

Well here I am, sitting at Brisbane airport, waiting for my flight to board. I had to wake up at 4am this morning, and get here at the airport no later than 5:30am. The weather was TERRIBLE to drive in, very scary on the motorway. But I got here at 5:20am, so it's all good.

I am tired. It is far too early to be up. The flight is too short to get any sleep, so I guess it is another long day for me. :(

Anyhow, flight is boarding now, so I must go. Chat to you all later.

The Floyd.

My housemate is determined to have me believe that if you play the Pink Floyd album "Dark Side of the Moon" while watching the movie "The Wizard of Oz" that the music synchronises with the movie so that certain lyrics and transitions and instrumentals coincide with events in the movie.

So here I am, sitting here, watching the bloody movie with the sound turned down, and Floyd playing, and it is just not happening.

Now he is trying to say "It must be because we are listening to a CD not an LP record. "The timing is all wrong!" he is claiming.

So I am sitting here at the airport waiting for my flight, and I watch a cop go into a disabled toilet. What tha? He did not look disabled to me.

Waiting waiting waiting.

Well here I am, sitting at the Cairns airport waiting for my flight. I finished all my work much earlier than expected, so now I have over a five and a half hour wait until my flight because the ticket the company bought me is not transferable, so I can not take an earlier flight. :(

I had an enjoyable enough two days up here. The weather is beautiful, if not just a bit hot. I got a lot of work done. I have plenty of documentation work to do though, so I can probably do that while I am waiting for my flight. I can not find a power outlet though, and my notebook battery only has about 30 minutes of battery left, so I doubt I will get much work done. :(
